Fabric softeners make your clothes so soft! They must be a good thing, right? Not so fast! The “fatty” substance in fabric softener directly embeds itself into your fabric and gives it the soft feel we’ve come to love. The issue, however, is that our fabrics are designed to be breathable and the softener “clogs” the fabric. It creates a cake-like layer over the fabric itself. Long term this is NOT good for your garments, and can even lead to towels and sheets being less absorbent.
